Charles Laughton [Charles Laughton]
(1899–1962) a British actor who became a US citizen in 1950. His films included The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933), for which he won an ↑Oscar, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939). He was not often given romantic parts, and described his own face as being ‘like the behind of an elephant’.
